Copyediting marks, like most facets of writing and copyediting, are a matter of some dispute — no one seems to do things quite the same way. For example, some copy editors draw a hyphen with one line, some with two.

Given the rise of electronic editing, I suspect there is a growing population of new copy editors who don’t even know how to mark a document by hand.
