My career has been devoted to copyediting. My first job out of college was as a copy editor for Business Wire, an international newswire service. Short deadlines and a heavy workflow covering diverse industries helped me to sharpen my skills.
I currently work as a copy editor and project manager (you may use the term production editor or documentation specialist) for Crider Associates, a firm that provides corporate training and publishing solutions to the automotive industry. I work on several award-winning publications, including SalesTalk, a 2005 Maggie winner and 2004 Magnum Opus Grand Award winner; and Infiniti Competitive Edge, a 2004 APEX Grand Award winner.
I also manage the annual product guides for the Nissan and Infiniti lineups. These books (16 in total for the 2006 model year) are the definitive product knowledge resources for sales consultants nationwide.
Aside from my day job, I have always done freelance writing and editing. I am a copyediting instructor at UCSD Extension, and I recently was chosen to redefine Extension’s copyediting program goals and learning objectives.
I’ll admit it — I love what I do.
I developed this Web site entirely on my own. Click here if you’d like to read more about my experience.
My education includes a B.A. in literature from the University of California, San Diego; a certificate in technical and professional communication (technical writing) from California State University, Hayward; and a certificate in copyediting from UCSD Extension. |
